THE GOODYEAR HEIGHTS NEIGHBORHOOD
When most people talk about Goodyear Heights, they are talking about the area we might call "Greater Goodyear Heights" - or the area as generally defined by the City of Akron's neighborhood map. This map, which was recently adjusted in 2016, shows that The Heights is one of the city's larger neighborhoods, with a population of almost 20,000 people. It takes up the greater portion of the 44305 ZIP code, and is comprised of about ten old northeast Akron allotments laid out between 1900 and 1930.

THE GOODYEAR HEIGHTS HISTORIC DISTRICT
The proposed Historic District represents a smaller portion of the whole neighborhood, located towards its southwest portion and reaching up into its center. Goodyear Boulevard forms the backbone of this area, which includes the original land purchased by F.A. Seiberling and developed by Goodyear for its employees. This represents the allotment designed by noted landscape architect Warren Manning (who also laid out the grounds at Stan Hywet) and which also includes the Goodyear-built homes designed by architects Mann & MacNeille and George Schwan.

  1. Interesting that both maps exclude both E Akron Cemetery and Blue Pond.

    1. Well, East Akron Cemetery is in East Akron... and while Blue Pond was once a playground for Heights residents, traditionally - you weren't in Googyear Heights until you crossed the bridge over the RR tracks.
