Aside from biking on the shady streets or hiking through the parks, there are other ways to spend your time in Goodyear Heights. Have a bite to eat, sip a cold one, or go see a movie at a discount price! One thing that all these places have in common is that they are comfortable and low-key—nothing flashy or built to attract attention here. But then again, maybe we prefer to keep these local attractions to ourselves! Be sure to check them out, but if you plan a visit, have a sharp eye. You could drive right by and miss ‘em...

The Linda - 1745 Goodyear Blvd, Akron, OH 44305
One of Akron’s few remaining neighborhood movie theaters, the Linda opened on Goodyear Boulevard in 1948 and has been entertaining generations of kids for decades. This Heights landmark shows second-run and classic movies at discount prices, and offers classic concessions, about 500 seats and that old-time theater atmosphere. A real treasure that’s still going strong.

Julian’s - 314 Pioneer St, Akron, OH 44305
Often rated as one of the best breakfast spots in town, this popular Heights restaurant is busy every morning – except on Mondays, when it is closed. Every other weekday they are open from 6am-2:30pm, and 7am-2:30pm on weekends. You’ll love the attentive service and the prices on the menu. Clean, quaint & memorable – try the biscuits & gravy!

Buckeye Bookshop - 795 Brittain Rd, Akron, OH 44305
For a long time, this bookshop has been one of Akron’s best kept secrets. This used book store is often so packed with books that you may have a hard time squeezing through the aisles. The selection of titles and range of subjects is truly impressive—and the prices will please just about everyone, too. Plenty of expert help available.

The Brooklands Bar - 371 The Brooklands, Akron, OH 44305
Tradition has it that this old watering hole first opened as a speakeasy in 1927, constructed for thirsty Goodyear workers who needed a secret spot to relax and quench their thirsts during Prohibition. Today, the recently-remodeled cafĂ© serves up plenty of Heights hospitality—with live music out back on the patio. It’s like partying in your friend’s back yard!

Massoli’s Italian Bakery - 157 Brittain Rd, Akron, OH 44305
Talk about a secret…the only sign you’ll see here is a tiny card in the window showing where customers can park--but the sweet smell of fresh bread will still give it away. Massoli’s is primarily a wholesale bakery, providing delicious Italian bread and buns to popular area restaurants—though anyone can stop inside and make a quick purchase. Many people don’t know it, but Massoli’s makes the buns for Swenson’s famous burgers!

Goodyear Branch Library - 60 Goodyear Blvd. Akron, OH 44305
The original building (known as East Branch Library) first opened in 1922 in a rented room in the Goodyear Club House. In 1939 it became the first branch library of the Akron system to occupy a building designed, built, furnished and owned by the library system. Recently expanded and renovated, the branch has 9,888 registered borrowers, circulated 145,805 items in 2010, and has a collection of 73,032 items.

Goodyear Theater & Hall - 1201 E. Market St. Akron OH 44305
Located at East End, these newly-renovated facilities are becoming two of Akron' hottest music venues. With a seating capacity of 1,458, Goodyear Theater will provide a more intimate setting, while Goodyear Hall will hold 3,500 people. Artists like Liz Phair, Smashing Pumpkins, Gavin DeGraw, Brett Michaels, Sara Evans, John Anderson of YES, Dawes, Redsun Rising have already played here, and a whole linup of concerts is set for 2017.
